Helen’s Luncheonette – Stamford, CT

320 Hope Street, Stamford, CT  –   (203) 323-7571

Mon – Sat, 5:30am – 3pm

If you want home-style cooking, go to Helen’s.  One of my favorite places to get breakfast! They have delicious omelettes, sandwiches, salads, and more!  It’s a simple place and I appreciate that.  Owners are very friendly – I wish they were still open on Sundays!

I usually get an omelette with some sort of combo of cheese (usually feta), onions, spinach, & tomato.  I always ask for my potatoes crispy! And of course you have to have a breakfast meat, both their bacon and sausage are amazing.  Sometimes I have to get both.  If I’m feeling insatiable, (which is more common than not) I share a short stack of pancakes with whoever I’m with.

I’ve also tried their burgers and they’re good!  But it’s homestyle cooking – so don’t expect a five guys burger!  Fries and coleslaw that come with it are also enjoyable!  DO get their bacon or ham egg & cheeses as well.

Enjoy some breakfast pictures below!

My standard

  • The Elevation Burger (Double meat, double cheese) with bacon, “original” toppings (elevation sauce, pickles, lettuce, tomato), raw  or caramelized onion (depends on my mood), ketchup, and mayo.
  • Side of fries
  • Chocolate shake with oreo cookies

Everything is amazing.  Tender, juicy meat. Great toppings. Honestly one of my favorite burgers. Fries are good too. I love that you can get your burgers wrapped in lettuce if you’re going low carb!

Riko’s Pizza – Stamford/Norwalk, CT

170 Selleck Street, Stamford, CT   203-674-8970
581 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT   203-614-9999
345 Main Ave., Norwalk, CT   203-822-7800

I’ve had pizza’s from both Stamford locations, and I haven’t been disappointed.  It can take a while for delivery, but that’s to be expected on a Friday/Saturday night.  Riko’s Pizza is super thin crust, just like Colony Grill in Stamford/Fairfield/Milford.  If you’re familiar with Colony, then you know they are almost the same pie.  There are minor differences, but not enough for me to have a CLEAR favorite.  They’re both delicious.  Riko’s offers thin crust pies with various toppings as well as salads and wings.  Haven’t tried any of their wings yet, but below is a list of pizza’s and salad’s I’ve tried and liked!

  • Pepperoni Pizza
  • Meatball & Ricotta Pizza
  • Hot Oil & Onion Pizza
  • Gorganzola Salad (Aged imported gorgonzola cheese, crispy romaine, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, kalamata olives)
  • Buffalo Chicken Salad (Marinated & roasted chicken breast, tangy buffalo sauce, crispy romaine, red onion, rough cut crispy bacon, tomatoes, signature creamy blue cheese dressing.)

Pinkberry – Fairfield,CT

1512 Post Road, Fairfield, CT

What else is there to say about Pinkberry? It’s delicious and everyone knows it.

You pick the size, the flavor yogurt (Greek or frozen), and then your toppings. I can’t steer away from my usual chocolate froyo with all chocolate toppings while everyone else seems to go the fruit route. I don’t think I/anyone else I’ve gone with has ever left unsatisfied.

Capriccio Cafe – Stamford, CT

189 Bedford Street , Stamford CT

http://www.capriccio-cafe.com

Let me start by saying that whenever I go to Capriccio, I never have a bad meal.  Sometimes the service is lacking, but I usually don’t mind because I’m never in a rush & if I’m sitting outside I’m just enjoying the atmosphere.  Besides food, I recommend the White Peach Sangria if you like a sweet refreshing drink.  Below is a list of what I’ve ordered and enjoyed from Capriccio.

  • Grilled Vegetable Stack (Zucchine, eggplant, tomatoes, smoked mozzarella, pesto)
  • Zucchini Chips (Crispy zucchini chips with their own marinara sauce)
  • Burrata Speck & Tomato (Cream filled fresh mozzarella, smoked prosciutto, tomatoes)
  • Fried Calamari  (Lemon, parsley, garlic dipping sauce)
  • Calamari alla Griglia (Grilled calamari served over a bed of arugula with lemon & olive oil dressing)
  • Cesare Salad (Caesar salad with croutons and shaved parmigiano cheese)
  • Lorenzo Salad (Fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma, roasted peppers, mixed greens)
  • Mia Salad (Sun-dried tomatoes, portobello mushrooms and grilled chicken sauteed in shallots, balsamic sauce served warm over mixed green)
  • Via Pola Panini (Grilled chicken, goat cheese, sun-dried tomato, portobello mushrooms)
  • Messina Sandwich (grilled chicken, smoked mozzarella, avocado and sundried tomato pesto
  • Maestro Pizza (tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto di Parma, fresh tomato, fresh basil)
  • Margherita Pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh basil)
